The Public Safety II course is designed to provide cadets with knowledge of terminology, classification systems, trends and theories of criminal justice. Over the course of the school year cadets will be introduced to the roles and responsibilities of all branches of the law enforcement tree. Areas covered in this course:

 

-Law Enforcement in today’s society

            +Current issues and policy

 

-Role of Private Security

 

-Role of Corrections

+Patrolling and monitoring the cell block, understanding inmate behavior, report writing, safety   procedures and use of force continuum.

 

-Role of the Courts

            +Court procedures, testifying and justification of actions while on duty.

            +Juvenile Justice

 

-Role of Police

+Crime Investigations: forensics, accident investigation, traffic law, car stops, pedestrian investigations, witness interviews, report writing, patrol procedures, use of force continuum and critical thinking.

 

-Homeland security and other federal law enforcement entities.

 

-Role of the US military.
