Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) 
Emergency Medical Responder (EMR)

12th Grade



National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) – Full course 225 hours

Up-to-date current curriculum mirroring Delaware State Fire School, which meets the National EMS Education Standards published guidelines. Provides cadet with in-depth knowledge and skill-based training to:

  • Assess
  • Stabilize
  • Treat
  • Monitor
  • Transport              the pre-hospital patient(s).


Cadets are required to spend a specified amount time in the clinical setting with assistance from a Field Training Officer (FTO) to attain associated curriculum knowledge from a hands-on perspective.

  • Oxygen Administration                                                
  • Patient Assessment-Medical
  • Patient Assessment-Trauma
  • Spinal Immobilization Supine Patient
  • Spinal Immobilization Seated Patient
  • Bleeding Control/Shock Management
  • Long Bone Immobilization
  • Joint Immobilization
  • BVM Apneic Patient
  • Cardiac Arrest Management AED



Successful course completion, practical exam conducted at DSFS, and National Registry exam, as the state approved written final exam will be certified for a (2) year period. Additional requirements for State of Delaware certification.



Emergency Medical Responder – Full course 150 hours

Provides cadet with

  • Basic life support skills
  • Knowledge to assess, stabilize, & monitor the pre-hospital patient

Psychomotor Skill Evaluation

  • Airway Management
  • Patient Assessment-Medical
  • Patient Assessment-Trauma



Successful course completion will be certified for a (2) year period
